Karnataka woman makes her three kids jump into well, jumps in herself

The woman had been quarrelling with her husband for over a month and when he failed to try to settle it she made her children jump into the well and jumped after them.

KALABURAGI: A woman committed suicide after forcing her three children to jump into a well at Sharana Sirasagi village on the outskirts of Kalaburagi Monday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Jayashree (40) and her children Pavitra (12), Sunil (10) and Anil (5).
   
Deputy superintendent of police (rural) S S Hullur said Jayashree and her husband Basavaraj, whom she married 13 years ago, lived in Teertha village. But a month ago, due to frequent quarrels with her husband, Jayashree went to her parents’ house in Sharana Sirasagi village.

Jayashree expected her husband to come to her parents’ villager to settle the dispute but he did not. Disappointed, Jayashree took her children to a well in the village and made them jump into it. After the children, Jayashree jumped in as well.

DySP Hullur said the footwear of the four persons were found near the well. The body of Jayashree was been fished out and has been sent for a post-mortem procedure. A search is on for the bodies of the three children, DySP said.
