KALABURAGI: A woman committed suicide after making three children jump into a well at Hadagil Haruti village on the outskirts of Kalaburagi on Monday morning.The deceased have been identified as Jayashree w/o Basavaraj Pujari (40), Pavitra (12), Sunil (10) and Anil (5).
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Rural) S S Hullur said that Jayashree married Basavaraj of Teertha village about 13 years back and was residing at Teertha village. Because of a quarrel with her husband, she came to her parents’ house at Sharana Sirasagi village a month back.As her husband did not come to Sharana Sirasagi village to take her and children back to Teertha village even after a month, Jayashree took her children to a well in Hadagil Haruti village adjacent to Sharana Sirasagi and made the children jump into the well. After her children committed suicide, Jayashree too jumped into the well and died.
Hullur said that their footwear were found near the well. Jayashree’s body was fished out immediately.
A case has been registered at Fartabad Police station in this regard.
