France lauds India’s capabilities in engineering, innovation

The Indian government planned to increase its domestic production in aerospace and defence to Rs 1.7 lakh crore by 2025 under the Defence Procurement Policy 2018.

BENGALURU: The capabilities of India in engineering, innovation and in the start-up arena were lauded by Vice-Chairman of the The French Aerospace Industries Association (GIFAS) Patrick Daher.

Delivering an address to mark the Indo-French Defence & Aerospace Cooperation meeting in the City on Tuesday, Daher said that 80 participants from 60 companies in France were on a visit to India to explore the defence and aerospace market. "France had achieved expertise a long time ago in developing satellites, rockets and airplanes," he said.

Some members of the team were on a five day visit to the City while the rest were on a four day trip. Delhi has already been covered and visits to Mumbai, Hyderabad and Nagpur will follow the Bengaluru trip,he said.

Lt General Subrata Saha, Director General of Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM) said the government planned to increase its domestic production in aerospace and defence to Rs 1.7 lakh crore by 2025 under the Defence Procurement Policy 2018.

Many one to one business meets were held during the day. The event was orgaised by SIDM, GIFAS and Confederation of Indian Industry.
