BENGALURU: Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy will perform a juggling act with the economy as he presents his much-debated farm loan waiver budget while attempting to maintain fiscal prudence, on Wednesday.  While industry bodies expect the state to announce industrial estates in all the districts, labour organisations from the garment industry have urged the state to increase old age pension from the measly Rs 500 per month given now to Rs 5,000.

K Sudhakar Shetty, president of Federation of Karnataka Chamber and Commerce told The New Indian Express that they have asked the chief minister to concentrate on the development of satellite towns to reduce traffic congestion in the state. “ We have also demanded that the Peenya Industrial Estate be upgraded,” he said.

New industrial estates and better infrastructure in the ones that already exist are the main demands of Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association, said its president Basavaraj Javali.  Farmer organisations say that loan waiver will be a temporary relief and have demanded a special package for agricultural development in rural areas.
