BENGALURU:Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister G Parameshwara has directed senior police officials to chalk out a plan to curb drug menace effectively.Seeking the details of the cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, he is said to have directed officers to take stringent action against drug peddlers, even if they are from foreign countries. Also, he reportedly asked the officers to strengthen the existing anti-drug squads.

An official who attended the meeting said, “Parameshwara told us that there should be coordinated efforts from police and education department officials to tackle the issue, as drug peddling is rampant in schools and colleges.”

The meeting was attended by DG & IGP Neelmani N Raju, City Police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar and other officers.Drug mafia in Bengaluru was a hot topic of discussion in the Legislative Assembly on Friday with members advocating total war against the menace.
