KOPPAL: Despite discordant notes being aired, Congress-JD(S) coalition government in the state will last its full five-year term, claimed Deputy Chief Minister and KPCC president G Parameshwara.
He spoke to reporters after participating on passing out parade of police recruits of KSRP and other reserved forces on the premises of Indian Reserve Battalion at Munirabad near Koppal on Wednesday.
He indicated that the coalition pact has been brokered between AICC and JD(S). Hence, any questions or discordant notes on the government's stability are irrelevant, he remarked.
"Coordination committee for the coalition government has agreed to continue all the programmes of the previous Congress government. However, there could be some communication gap on presentng fresh budget. Such pulls and pressures will be sorted out through discussions," he said, adding that the Congress is also committed to waive farm loan.
Replying to a query about fresh budget on July 5 by the coalition government, he said that state secretariat officials will officially intimate legislators at an appropriate time.
Referring to pay revision of the police personnel, he said that sixth pay commission has been petitioned for a hike in pay and perks, based on Raghavendra Auradkar committee report.
A proposal has been submitted to the finance department for Rs 1,818 crore for 11000 houses for the police personnel, he disclosed.
District ministers will be appointed by the coalition government at the earliest, he claimed.
Speaking at the passing out parade, he said with the advent of technology, crimes take different shapes and hence the police must keep abreast and contain cyber crimes.
He also called upon the police to restore people's faith in the department.
Later, the minister and Koppal MLA Raghavendra Hitnal visited the solid waste management unit at Hosalli village near Munirabad.
Director General of Police (training) Pavankumar Garg, ADGP (KSRP) Bhaskar Rao, deputy commissioners and superintendents of police of Ballari and Koppal districts were present.
