BENGALURU: T M Vijay Bhaskar was appointed the new Chief Secretary (CS) of Karnataka, after State government withdrew its recommendation to give a second extension to incumbent CS Ratna Prabha.

Her tenure will end today on June 30. Though she was set to retire on March 31, earlier this year, former chief minister Siddaramaiah had extended her services by three more months. Kumaraswamy too had written to the Union government seeking a second extension to Ratna Prabha, which was suddenly withdrawn following JD(S) national president H D Devegowda's visit to Bengaluru.

The order of appointment was issued around noon by the State government.
