Udupi's Pejavar Mutt seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha hospitalised

Sources said that he is in the intensive care unit and has been kept under observation for the next 24 hours.

UDUPI:  Sri Vishwesha Theertha of Sri Pejawar Mutt, Udupi, has been admitted to hospital in Manipal on Friday morning. The 89-year-old seer was doing well untill at around 10 pm on Thursday, he complained of chest pain, sources said. Initially, he was taken to Adarsha Hospital in Udupi, and for further treatment, he got admitted to Kasturba hospital in Manipal, sources said. He is in the intensive care unit and has been kept under observation for the next 24 hours.

Sources quoting doctors informed The New Indian Express that his condition is stable and it was due to his age-related issues, he had to be kept under observation. There is nothing to worry about his health, sources said.Sources quoting doctors told The New Indian Express that due to fear of infection, no one can visit him. The next update from the hospital on the condition of the seer will be released on Saturday morning.

As Sri Vishwesha Theertha of Sri Pejawar Mutt, Udupi took ill and was hospitalised, devotees at Sri Krishna Mutt, Udupi recited ‘Sri Vishnu Sahasranama’ for his speedy recovery.The hospital sources told later that the seer was brought to the hospital with difficulty in breathing since 5 am on Friday, from a private hospital in Udupi. ‘’He is currently serious and connected to a ventilator. He is being treated for extensive pneumonia with antibiotics and supportive treatment’’ stated Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital, Manipal in a press release. 

Sources from Sri Pejawar Mutt informed that the personal secretary of the Seer – Vishnumoorthi got a call from PM Narendra Modi on Friday and the Prime Minister enquired about the health of the seer. The PM also wished speedy recovery of the seer. According to sources from Pejawar Mutt, Home Minister Amit Shah may visit Manipal to call on the seer at the hospital on Saturday.
