CHANGANASSERY: Janasree Sustainable Development Mission had emerged a model for creative social work within a short span of time, said Opposition leader Oommen Chandy. He was inaugurating the district convention of the initiative here on Monday.

The Janasree Mission had become a worthy link for different strata of the society and eventually contributing its might for the qualitative improvement of life of the masses, Chandy said. “All should understand that the days of sloganeering and agitations are over and only creative interventions will sustain by itself in a society like the one in Kerala,” he said.

Delivering the keynote address at the meet, Janasree chairman M M Hassan said the organisation had its fundamentals on Gandhian principles and Rs 150 crore had been mopped up as bank deposits so far through the channel. The funds would be utilised for poverty alleviation and employment generation programmes in the state in a comprehensive manner, he added.

Janasree district chairman P A Salim presided over the function.
