Nattakom minor port dedicated to State

KOTTAYAM: Industry Minister Elamaram Kareem dedicated to State the minor port developed at Nattakom as a publicprivate participatory venture under the SICCI at a solemn function here on Sunday morning.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister hoped that the Rs 9.5 crore venture would add to the tourism prospects of the Kottayam-Kumarakom belt in addition to the industrial and tourism sectors. Facilitated by the KINFRA and claimed to be the first inland port in the country, the venture is expected to cater to the multifaceted cargo movement needs of Kottayam, Idukki and Pathanamthitta.

V N Vasavan, MLA, presided over the function. MPs Jose K Mani and Anto Antony, district panchayat president K P Sugunan, District Collector P Venugopal, Cochin Port Trust chairman N Ramachandran, Dubai Port Trust chairman Suresh Joseph, KINFRA managing director S Ramnath, Pallom block panchayat president T R Raghunathan, and Nattakom grama panchayat ward member Sanal Thampy were present on the occasion.
