PALAKKAD: The public sector company Instrumentation Limited, Palakkad, has manufactured a butterfly valve of 2,800 mm diameter for the Gillanders Arbuthnot and Co. Ltd, Kolkata, for the Vizag steel plant, a Steel Authority of India project.
The valve is worth Rs 18 lakh.The design and assembling of the valve was completely carried out at the Palakkad unit of the Instrumentation Limited. General manager N K Srivastava said that this was the largest ever manufactured butterfly valve by any public sector unit in the country. The gate of the company should be reconstructed in order to take the valve out from the site.
The turnover of Instrumentation Limited last year was Rs 92 crore and it is expected that the company would surpass Rs 100 in the current financial year.
The production of the Palakkad unit of Instrumentation Limited increased from Rs 64 crore in 2007-08 to Rs 83 crore in 2008-09 and the turnover increased from Rs 75 crore to Rs 92 crore in the same period.
