CHENNAI: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Sunday quizzed former Kerala power minister and Congress leader G. Karthikeyan in the SNC Lavalin case in which ruling Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) state secretary Pinarayi Vijayan is one of the accused.

"They (CBI) asked me to meet them again, so I came. They asked me questions and I replied. I had made my intentions very clear that I will cooperate with them in the investigation," Karthikeyan told reporters after meeting CBI officials here.

This is the second time in last nine days that the CBI has questioned Karthikeyan in the Rs.374 crore (Rs.3.74 billion) scam.

Vijayan, who was the power minister in 1997, is accused of wrongly awarding the contract for renovation of three power plants in the state to the Canadian company SNC Lavalin.

In June, a CBI court in Kochi asked the investigating team to re-examine the involvement of Karthikeyan as he was the state power minister in 1995 when a consultancy agreement was signed with the SNC Lavalin.
