THRISSUR: The decorative pandal erected at Naduvilal junction on Swaraj Round here by the Thiruvambady Devaswom in connection with Thrissur Pooram held on May 3, 2009, will be entered in the 2010 edition of the Limca Book of World Records in the human story section. Pooram Celebration Committee convener and Sun Group CEO T A Sundar Menon, Thiruvambady Devaswom president M C S Menon and secretary C Vijayan told reporters here on Saturday that a message in this regard had been received from the Limca authorities.

Menon, who was the chief architect of the several-storey pandal, said that the shamiana had a height of 90 ft and it had cost around Rs 10 lakh. The pandal was illuminated with LED bulbs imported from countries including China. He said that the imported LED bulbs not only added the decor to the pandal but also reduced the power required for illumination.

Officials of the devaswom said that the devaswom had used 85 kv capacity generator for supplying power for the illumination of the decorative pandals last year.

But due to the use of LED, a 10 kv capacity generator was sufficient to meet the requirements this year, they said.
