THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Janata Dal(S) has demanded the disqualification of three MLAs who had ditched the party and crossed over to the UDF.

In a petition filed before the Assembly Speaker on Tuesday, JD(S) state president Mathew T Thomas MLA, demanded the disqualification of MLAs M K  Premnath, M V  Sreyams Kumar and K P Mohanan.

These three MLAs contested the election as JD(S) nominees and later crossed over to the party named Socialist Janata Democratic, alleged the petitioner.

‘’They, on many occasions during the 14th and 15th sessions of the Assembly, voted against the Government or abstained from voting without permission from the party,’’ says the petition.

Mathew T Thomas requested the Speaker to invoke the provisions contained in 2(b) in the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution of India and disqualify the three MLAs.
