THRISSUR: Art critic and journalist George S Paul has been invited to the three-day festival of classical dances to be held in Mumbai from September 17.

 Organised by the Union Ministry of Culture, the festival, titled ‘70 years of Indian classical dances’, will showcase the seniormost artistes in bharatanatyam, mohiniyattom, kuchipudi, odissi, kathak and manipuri. The artistes include C V Chandrasekhar, Kanak Rele, Briju Maharaj, Kumkum Mohanty, Raja Reddy and Darshana Javeri.

The unique cultural event will focus on the developments of each dance form from the post-Independence period. The only critic to be invited from the state is George S Paul and he is a member of the executive committee of the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi.
