KANNUR: After JSS leader KR Gowri Amma, another constituent of the UDF led by MV Raghavan has come up with a dissenting note stating that the UDF in Kannur had sidelined his party while holding discussions in connection with the sharing of seats in the local body polls.
The Communist Marxist Party(CMP) leader convened a news conference here on Saturday to express his resentment over the treatment meted out to his party during the seat-sharing talks held in the past couple of days.
He said the CMP was not invited while holding talks on sharing of seats at several places in the state.
Criticising the UDF’s stand on the issue, Raghavan said this approach was against the dignity and decorum of a United Front. Raghavan said that when the issue was brought to the notice of UDF convener PP Thankachan and Opposition Leader Oommen Chandy, they had promised to rectify the lapse.
When the district committee of the Congress in Kannur was contacted, the response was that they had no information about the understanding on sharing of seats with the CMP, he said.
Raghavan said that his party wasn’t satisfied with the sharing of seats for the local body polls and that this should be discussed by the UDF leadership.
Meanwhile, UDF district convener Sunny Joseph said he wasn’t aware of the seat-sharing adjustments with the CMP. He said that he was ready to look into the complaints of the CMP in this connection.
