VYTHIRI:  AS he wished, the mortal remains of Vipindas, the vibrant cinematographer of 'yesteryear' who passed away here on Saturday, were cremated at the public burial ground on Sunday afternoon. Though the stars of Malayalam industry were conspicuous by their absence, a large number of known names from the cine world, were present here to bid adieu to their beloved cameraman.

The funeral pyre of Vipindas was lit by Abhilash, his soninlaw. Saroopa, daughter of Vipindas, and wife Ambika were also present along with his relatives and friends.

Deputy Collector Anil Kumar laid wreath for Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan while Tahsildar K K Vijayan laid wreath representing Cultural Affairs Minister M A Baby.

Film actor Abu Salim laid wreath on behalf of AMMA. Directors V M Vinu, Ranjith, T A Rasaq, cameramen Venu, Sally George, Shajun, writers Punathil Kunhabdulla and documentary director O K Johnny were present.
