THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Though the killer waves that struck the Japanese coast on Friday swallowed his house-cum- clinic in far off Sendai, naturopath Jeevan Sreedhar thanks his spiritual mentor for being safe at his home at Cherthala in Kerala as it was his Guru who suggested him to postpone his return journey to Japan after the vacation.
Jeevan, who runs a Yoga and Naturopathy clinic at Sendai, had planned to go back to Japan one months back.
But his Guru Aalay Swami, the head of the Chinthalaya Ashram near Thiruvananthapuram, asked him to defer his travel plans.
"I always go by the Swami's word.The one-month time suggestd by the Swami is over and I have booked flight ticket for Tokyo for the next Wednesday," Dr Jeevan told PTI from Cherthala in Alappuzha district.
"I first knew about the tsunami strike when a Keralite friend from Fukuwoka island in Japan called me around mid-day yesterday.What I could gather from him was that the Sendai has been ravaged by the monster waves and my apartment and car had been washed off," Jeevan said.
A licensed practitioner of Siddha system of medicine, Jeevan has been running the clinic and yoga centre in Sendai in Miyagi prefecture for the last 12years.
He said he tried to make telephone calls to people in Japan on Friday, but he could not reach them as communication channels were disrupted.
But on Saturday, he had been able to send e-mail messages to his friends, although the communications channels are yet to be restored fully, he said.
