Express News Service

The Kerala High Court on Monday granted bail to seven accused in the Taliparamba Abdul Shukkoor murder case, while it denied bail to five accused.

Justice S S Satheesachandran granted bail to Shijin Mohan of Keezhara, Nidhin and M V Purushothaman of Kannapuram, Latheesh, Prakashan, K V Shaji and C N Mohanan of Morazha.

The court released them on bail taking note that they have been in judicial custody for 70 days and some other accused in the crime were already released on bail. “Each of them shall execute a bond for `1 lakh with two solvent sureties. They should not intimidate or influence any of the witnesses and surrender their passports before the Magistrate,” the court held.

The court also dismissed the bail pleas of five accused - U V Venu, Ganesan, K V Sumesh, A Anup and  K V Sajith.

“The apprehension raised by the investigating agency that the release of the accused, who were imputed of having had active role in the commission of the offence, would undermine the confidence of the public in the investigation cannot be brushed aside,” the court said.
