Dam shutters raised

After the heavy rain on Friday,  two shutters of Maniyar Dam under the Pamba Irrigation Project in Pathanamthitta were raised.

The water level in the Kakkad river had increased beyond the danger level and  shutters two and three of the dam were raised by nearly 25 centimetres.

Some vehicles belonging to the Sabarimala pilgrims were held up at the Kanamala Causeway after the water level rose in the Pamba on the Erumely-Pamba stretch.
