All districts to have medical colleges soon: Chief Minister

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has said that, districts without medical colleges will soon get government medical colleges. Efforts are on to start four medical colleges which have been proposed in the budget.

The government also plans to institute medical colleges in all districts, he added. He was speaking after inaugurating the Bellrose Medicity hospital at Kumaranelloor on Sunday.

“It is the government’s policy to provide the best service in the health scenario of Kerala and common people will be the beneficiaries of this vision,” he said, adding that the relevance of private sector in healthcare could not be ruled out.

Home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan presided over the function. Municipal chairman Sunny Kalloor, former MLA Thomas Chazhikadan, Aymanam panchayat president Leelamma Itti, municipal councillor Sebastian Valamparambil, panchayat member Mariyamma Babu, Bellrose Medicity hospital managing director Juby Devassia and director Bevis Juby were among the speakers.
