One more person was arrested by the Chengannur police on Saturday in connection with the murder of ABVP activist Vishalkumar. A police team, led by Chengannur CI R Jose, arrested Ansar Faizal, 21, Thekkesankarathil house, Kadakkal in Pathanamthitta district.
Two ABVP workers were also injured in the violence that took place near Christian College, Chengannur, on Monday, between the activists of the ABVP and Campus Front of India (CFI). Earlier, two persons, Nazeem, 21, of Konni Ooottupara, the college unit secretary of the Campus Front, and Shafeeque, 22, of Kurampala, Kadakkad, a Popular Front sympathiser, were arrested on Thursday in connection with the murder.
Ansar, who was later produced before the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Chengannur was remanded to custody and sent to Mavelikkara sub-jail.
Chengannur Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) E Nurudheen Kunju on Friday had clamped prohibitory orders in Chengannur and Mavelikkara taluks till July 23, following the incident.
