CPI to hold five-day Maha Satyagraha

Express News Service

CPI state secretary Panniyan Raveendran said here on Saturday that Chief Minister Oommen Chandy should wake up from slumber and act various issues affecting common man.

Addressing a press conference here, Panniyan said that the CPI would organise a five-day maha satyagraha in Thiruvananthapuram to protest against the anti-people policies of the state and Central governments.

He alleged that the Civil Supplies Corporation is doing nothing to control the skyrocketing of prices of essential commodities. Fuel and gas prices were hiked, milk price and bus fare are expected to be hiked within a few days. Life has become miserable for common man,” Panniyan said.

The Union government’s policy is that the subsidy on gas should be reduced to control inflation.

“The UDF allies should make their stand clear in the issue,” he added.

Regarding the issue of Kitex Garments, Panniyan urged the Chief Minister and Industries Minister to convene a meeting to solve the issues raised by the company.
