Poet O N V Kurup will be presented the P Kesavadev Literary Award instituted in memory of novelist and social reformer P Kesavadev.
The office-bearers of the P Kesavadev Foundation told mediapersons here on Saturday that O N V Kurup had a unique place in the history of Malayalam poetry.
“As a poet and lyricist Kurup penned the messages of humanity and love,” they said.
The award committee chaired by George Onakkoor had Deshamangalam Ramakrishnan, Vijayakrishnan and Seethalakshmi Kesavadev as its members.
Thomas Mathew, Community Medicine professor at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College has been selected for the Diabscreen Kerala Kesavadev Award.
“The award recognises persons involved in imparting medical education to common man,” office-bearers of the Foundation said.
Award Function
The award function will be held at Hotel Mascot here on August 17 at 4 p m. Both the awards comprise Rs 25,000 and a statuette each.
