Man dies after falling into factory tank

A 30-year-old man who jumped into the pulp tank of a paper mill in Edayar to save his co-worker died on Monday. 

Lakhan Singh, a contract employee of Sree Sakthi Paper Mills, Edayar, jumped into the pulp tank to save his co-worker Sunil Kumar who collapsed into the tank after inhaling poisonous gas.

Lakhan Singh succeeded in saving his co-worker from the tank. But he also got into danger after inhaling the poisonous gas. Both of them were taken to the Lourdes Hospital for emergency treatment.

Lakhan Singh, who has been in the ICU for the last eight days, died on Monday morning.

After post-mortem examination at the Government Hospital, Ernakulam, the body of Lakhan Singh was handed over to the relatives who had been here since the accident.

Sunil Kumar is not yet out of danger. Lakhan Singh is reportedly from UP and has four children.
