Ottappalam Pappan passes away

Serial and film actor Ottappalam Pappan aka N P Padmanabhan,68, passed away at his residence in Thiruvilwamala here on Thursday. The actor was undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments for the last four months. He is survived by wife Pankajam P Menon and sons Dheeraj and Sarath. His family members were with him when the end came around 11.30 am.

The actor made his presence in the film industry through the Mammootty-starred movie Valsalyam, directed by late actor-cum-director Cochin Haneefa.

Famed as a supporting actor, he had acted in various hit films such as Maayamayooram, Golaandhara Vartha, Chakoram, Oru Maravathur Kanavu, Pingami, Sallapam among others.

He had also bagged the best supporting actor award of the state government in 2009. His last film is ‘Ayudham.’

The body will be cremated at Ivor Madom at Thiruvilwamala on Friday.
