Three youngsters fatally hit by train

Three youths were killed after being knocked down by a running train at Mayyapalam near Kanjikode on Thursday. The accident occurred at 9 a.m.

The deceased were identified as Pratheesh Kumar, 31, son of Ramakrishnan, Kamath Kalam, Koyamarakad, Kanjikode, and his friends James, 28 son of Naickam Chinnadurai, Sungamuthan veedu, Kanjikode and Satheesh Kumar, 31 son of Chinnakuttan, Koyamarakad, Kanjikode.

They had gone to take the photograph of a person who accidentally fell from a train.  The police said that it was the Coimbatore -Mangalapuram passenger train which had hit the three youths who were returning by walking on the tracks.

 Since there was heavy rain, the youths did not hear the sound of the train. While Satheesh died on way to hospital, the other two died on the spot. Pratheesh had a studio at Kanjikode. The bodies were handed over to their relatives after postmortem examination.
