Former MLA cremated

The mortal remains of former MLA and CPM leader M K Purushothaman was cremated on the premises of his residence in Vypeen on Monday evening.   Purushothaman, 51, died at a private hospital, early on Monday. Purushothaman was rushed to the hospital after he complained of chest pain, where he was declared dead.

 He was elected as MLA from Njarakkal Assembly constituency in 2006. He first entered politics through the Students Federation of India while studying at the Maharaja’s College in 1978. He has served as the area president and as the block secretary, block president and district vice-president of DYFI. The commendable service he rendered as the leader of KSKTU, made him popular among the agrarian community. In 2006, he resigned from the post to contest the 2006 Assembly polls and was elected as the MLA. He is survived by wife Mini and son Nishad.
