GAIL: Damages announced

Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here on Wednesday that Gas Authority ofIndia Limited (GAIL) would compensate the land owners for laying pipeline through their land at the rate of 10 per cent of five times the market value of the land.

 Speaking at the post-Cabinet media briefing, Chandy said in other states GAIL is providing only 10 per cent of the market value of the land as compensation. ‘’But it has to consider the special situation prevailing  here,’’ he said.

The ban on monsoon trawling will be for 47 days starting from June 15. The Chief Minister also said that the Cabinet had granted administrative sanction to the Edappally Flyover project worth `135 crore. DMRC will be the implementing agency. Of the total cost of the project, the state will provide `95 crore, he said. The Chief Minister said that based on a meeting held on April 25, the  hospitals at Kottathura, Agali and Puthur in the Attappadi areas will be provided improved medical facilities and manpower.

 Those staff members working here will get an additional allowance of 20 per cent of their basic pay. Contract staff will get Rs 20,000 per month. Asha workers will also be given incentives, he said.
