Attack on Chandy: 9 more arrested

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) investigating the attack on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in Kannur on October 27 arrested nine CPM activists, including a party branch secretary, on Monday in connection with the incident.

The Special Investigation Team arrested CPM Puthiyatheru branch committee secretary Shiju, along with eight other party members, mostly from Thalassery and surrounding areas.

The arrested include C K Abdul Raheem from Dharmadam, Suresh N C from Thalassery, Jithin K from Kadalayi, C V Chandrashekharan from Kannothumchal, P Kuttikrishnan from Chelora, K Shaji and Niroop Kumar, both from Nettur, and P Ananthakrishnan from Chalad.

All the arrested were produced before the Kannur JFCM Court and were remanded for two weeks.  With today’s arrests, the total arrests in connection with the case crossed 70.
