Creamy layer limit raised to Rs 6 lakh

The State cabinet on  Wednesday decided to raise the creamy layer limit to `6 lakh from the current limit of `4.5 lakh.

The State cabinet on  Wednesday decided to raise the creamy layer limit to `6 lakh from the current limit of `4.5 lakh.

Briefing cabinet decisions here, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said that the state government had followed the norms and the regulations fixed by the Central Government in this regard.

The income limit of those from backward as well as forward communities applying for educational grants will be increased.

A final decision regarding the increasing of the income limit criterion will be taken in the next Cabinet meeting.

`74 cr for Roads

The Chief Minister said that the Cabinet had accorded administrative sanction worth `74 crore for the first phase of road widening works from Karamana to Kaliyikkavila.

A sum of `20 crore has been sanctioned this fiscal itself.  He also said that 35 new posts have been sanctioned for Vadakancherry District Hospital.
