37th Vayalar Award for Prabha Varma

Poet Prabha Varma has been selected for the  37th Vayalar Ramavarma Literary Award, 2013 instituted by the Vayalar Ramavarma Memorial Trust.

Poet Prabha Varma has been selected for the  37th Vayalar Ramavarma Literary Award, 2013 instituted by the Vayalar Ramavarma Memorial Trust.

His poem ‘Syama Madhavam’ earned him the prestigious  award. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a memento designed by noted sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman and a citation.

Announcing the awards, Trust president M K Sanu said   the award ceremony would be held on October 27, on the death anniversary of Vayalar Ramavarma at the University Senate Hall here at 5.30 p m.

The jury comprising Anil Vallathol, Head  of the Department of Malayalam of Calicut University, N Anilkumar, Head of the Department of Malayalam, Kerala Varma College, Thrissur and Ambalappuzha Gopakumar selected the awardee.

Sanu said the literary works published within five consecutive years prior to December 31, 2012 were considered for the award for the year 2013.
