The sea turned rough at Vadanappally, here, from Friday night and a major portion of its coast has become vulnerable to sea erosion.

At least four houses face the threat of getting washed away owing to high tidal waves. The sea water has started to enter the houses along the Takshashila beach.

The revenue officials have decided to shift two families affected by the rough sea, to safer locations.

Road Damaged

Strong waves have started battering the coast since Friday night and have not subsided even on Saturday evening.

The lashing waves have also damaged about 20 metres of road along the seawall in the area.

The panchayat officials said that steps have been taken to offload granite pieces along the worst affected stretch to protect the families from the fury of lashing waves.
