750 Contestants to Participate in ICPC Today

KOLLAM: Amritapuri university is hosting ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) on December 16 on its campus at Vallikkavu. A total of 750 contestants who have arrived from 150 professional colleges in India and Bangladesh will participate in the contest to be held on Amritapuri campus. 

Most of the contestants are from Amrita University itself. Of the 255 teams contesting from the university, 130 teams are from Amritapuri and 125 teams from Ettimadai campus.

Within India, the participants come from institutions such as the IIT, IIIT, NIT, BITS and other leading institutions. IBM is the worldwide ICPC sponsor and the Asia region event is sponsored by Infosys, Facebook and Directi. The contest which is known as the ‘Olympics of Programming’ is being hosted by the university for the 10th consecutive time.

The semi-finalists were selected from the preliminary contest held in October 2014. Teams which win the semi-finals from all continents will go to Morocco, Africa, for the world finals in May 2015. ICPC World finals will be hosted in India for the first time by Amrita University in 2017.
