The nomination papers of the namesake of Veerendrakumar, the UDF candidate of Palakkad Lok Sabha constituency, was accepted during scrutiny today. The UDF had objected to the nomination papers of the namesake Veerendra Kumar, son of Pokkan of Menonthodi, Chorode Kuniyil, Vadakara.

The UDF objected to the nomination papers of Veerendra Kumar stating that in the voters list published on January 22, his name was only ‘Veerender’. However, the LDF representative stated that in the new voters list published thereafter, the name was spelt as Veerendra Kumar.

District Collector K Ramachandran, who is also the district Returning Officer, sought a report from the Tahsildar of Vadakara over phone. The report was received by fax, which stated that his name in the new voters list is ‘Veerendra Kumar’.

The Collector then announced that the nomination papers of Veerendra Kumar, the namesake, has been accepted.
