Express News Service

GURUVAYUR: The ‘ashtamangala prasnam’, a ritual conducted to know the will of the deity, at Lord Sree Krishna Temple has concluded the other day.As many as eight astrologers, led by Manapuzha Raman Nampoothiri, took part in the four and a half days-long ‘prasanam’ ritual. The ritual, which began on February 11, ended on Saturday with the astrologers seeking several acts of atonement citing various incidents in the past that they consider had dented the sanctity of the temple.

The incident of two higher officials, including a Guruvayur Devaswom managing committee member, coming to blows near the sanctum sanctorum of the temple during the auspicious ‘utsava bali’ ritual during the temple festival was seen during the ‘prasnam’ as a blot on the divinity of the temple. For divine redemption with regard to this incident, the ‘prasanam’ has advised to offer the deity a tongue made of gold and to chant ‘mantras’ seeking penance. It is also learnt that during the ritual, Raman Nampoothiri has informed the temple authorities that,  it had been found that there was a possibility of an explosion inside the temple in future.
