KOCHI: The Beaches of Kerala - Varkala, Marari, Kovalam Lighthouse and Muzhappilangad - were featured in the India top-25 list of the ‘Travellers’ Choice’ awards for beaches, published by travel website TripAdvisor. Radhanagar beach in Havelock Island, Andaman & Nicobar, topped the list of Indian beaches.
In 2014, only three beaches from Kerala had found place in the list. Goa trumps other states and leads with 11 winning beaches, followed by Kerala (four), Andaman & Nicobar Islands (three), Orissa (two), Karnataka (two), Tamil Nadu (one), Maharashtra (one) and Pondicherry (one).
The Baia do Sancho beach in Brazil was selected as the best beach in the World. As a country, India tops the Asia list with eight beaches.
“TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Beaches offer a perfect recipe to escape to some of the most scenic beaches, not just globally but in India as well. It is also great to see India moving up the ladder in the world and Asia lists,” said Nikhil Ganju, country manager, TripAdvisor India.
