Express News Service

PONNANI:  In a gut wrenching case of suicide-murder, a young woman, who was reportedly undergoing treatment  for mental problems, on Monday jumped into a well along with her eight-month-old child after allegedly hacking  her husband to death at Perumpadappu near here.

The deceased are Karinkalathani native Saleena, 28, her husband Faisal, 35, and their son Mohamed Fahim.

“Saleena had been undergoing treatment for mental illness for the last couple of months and her family has confirmed it to the police. We have also got statements from neighbours and family members that there were no issues between Saleena and Faisal.

Her sister herself brought her to a doctor after she displayed suicidal tendencies.  A detailed investigation will be conducted  even though, the preliminary investigation indicated that Saleena murdered Faisal before committing suicide,” Perumpadappu SI K Sinod said.

Faisal, who had sustained grievous injuries in the deadly attack, was discovered in a bloodied state inside the bedroom by his mother at around 5 am. After the shell-shocked woman alerted the neighbours,  Faisal was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

The locals also mounted a frantic search for  Saleena  and Fahim, whose corpses were found in a nearby well.

According to family members, Faisal, who had been employed in the Gulf, was scheduled to fly back on Thursday after a month-long vacation here.
