Bishop Sam Mathew Laid to Rest

KOTTAYAM: Hymns, prayers and reading from scriptures marked the farewell service of Dr Sam Mathew, former bishop of CSI Madhya Kerala diocese, who was interred in a specially prepared tomb of the CSI Holy Trinity Cathedral here on Wednesday. Thousands of people from different walks of life bid a final adieu to the former bishop after the final services at his residence at Manganam here.

CSI Deputy Moderator Dr Thomas K Oommen led the final services held at the Holy Trinity Church at Chalukunnu. Bishops Zacharias Mar Polycarpos, Thomas Mar Timotheos and others were present. Bishop Thomas K Oommen read the condolence message sent by Justin Welby, the head of Anglican Church and Archbishop of Canterbury.
