Kerala to comply with SC verdict to close down liquor outlets along the national and state highways

The Supreme Court verdict is expected to affect nearly fifty per cent of the liquor outlets as a considerable number of outlets.

KOZHIKODE: Excise minister T P Ramakrishnan said the State government would take necessary actions to implement the Supreme Court verdict on Thursday on closing down liquor outlets along the national and state highways, after studying the verdict in detail.

"As of now, we only know that the Supreme Court had issued a directive to close down liquor outlets along the state and national highways with effect from April 1. The State government will definitely take steps to implement the order. We will go through the order in detail for complying with it," the minister told reporters here.

The Supreme Court verdict is expected to affect nearly fifty per cent of the liquor outlets as considerable number of outlets in the State are situated along the national and state highways.
