Media Reports Baseless: Ramesh

Express News Service

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala  said on Saturday that the media reports on the ‘sharp criticism’ by the Vigilance Court against the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) were baseless.

The court order said that an FIR should be registered in the case and that the court would monitor the investigation.

“It does not contain any allegation or criticism against the functioning of the Vigilance. Based on a court reference, the VACB had completed the quick verification but did not arrive at a decision whether or not to register a case,” Chennithala said.

“The VACB sought more time to complete the investigation citing similar cases on the same issue pending in other courts. The Vigilance Court order too refers to the High Court case,” he said.

The Home Minister said that the attempt to portray court debates as court order was not fair. The false reports on ‘criticism against the Vigilance’ were with ulterior motives, Chennithala said.
