KOCHI: The state government on Thursday submitted before the Kerala High Court there was nothing suspicious about death of actor Kalabhavan Mani to assume it was a homicide. The statement also said Mani had assets worth `20 crore.

In the statement, the state said the chances of being poisoned to death by anyone had been investigated thoroughly. Financial transactions, real estate deals, enmity in the film field, illicit relations, issues with his close associates and notorious criminals- Gundukad Sabu, Vettil Suresh and Priyan Palluruthi were also thoroughly probed.

“Noting suspicious has been found so far. The conduct of persons who were regular visitors to the outhouse and the close associates of Mani have been verified in minute details along with their call data records,” the police said.

In view of the allegations of alcoholism, the chances of Mani committing suicide was also examined thoroughly. But the behaviour of Mani in his last days before death does not point to such an eventuality.
There was no history of Mani and his associates consuming country made liquor in the recent past.

The chances of consuming poison accidentally is almost zero as all organo-phosphorous poisons have pungent smell which prevents accidental consumption.
