THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An inquiry commission, headed by Justice (retired) G Sivarajan, submitted its report on the high-profile multi-crore solar scam to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan here on Tuesday.
According to sources, the report points out lapses on the part of former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s office in connection with the scam. The report states that the accused were able to establish close links with the staff in the former Chief Minister’s office.It is also reliably learnt that the role of certain investigating officers who probed the sensational case has also come in for criticism in the inquiry report.
“I have submitted the report to the Chief Minister. The report is in four volumes. The Chief Minister will give more details,” Justice Sivarajan told reporters after submitting the report.
Later Pinarayi told the media he would share the details of the commission’s report later.
The previous UDF Government headed by Oommen Chandy had appointed retired High Court judge G Sivarajan as a one-member commission in October 2013 to probe the solar scam. The cases pertain to alleged duping of investors by Biju Radhakrishnan and his partner Saritha Nair.
The duo allegedly collected crores of rupees for a solar power project from businessmen using top-level contacts including that of Chandy.The commission’s sitting had attracted public attention following the personal appearance of Oommen Chandy before it. The commission had examined several documents, including cellphone data collected by the police as part of their probe.
