ALAPPUZHA: Doctors under the aegis of the Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) observed a black day in Alappuzha on Tuesday in protest against the attack on KGMOA leader Sabu Suguthan. Two local leaders of the CPI attacked the doctor over a road accident at Cherthala late on Sunday.

According to Cherthala police, CPI Cherthala mandalam committee member M M Niyas and West local committee member A Saji were charged with a case on the basis of a complaint registered by the doctor. Later they were released on bail, the police said.

Meanwhile, the accused duo also registered a counter complaint with the Circle Inspector accusing the doctor of attacking them after damaging their vehicle.   KGMOA district president K Hariprasad said attacks against doctors and hospitals are increasing in the state and the authorities concerned are turning a blind eye to such incidents.
