KOCHI: Though the vibes coming out from filmdom pointed towards a possible ‘spilt’ in the film bodies in Malayalam, leading to the birth of a new one, cinematographer-turned filmmaker Rajeev Ravi rubbished reports of the imminent birth of a new organisation headed by him.

According to the rumours, the new body is likely to be ‘collective’, which will represent everyone in filmdom and will be a counter to  Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) and Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) - a coming together of those behind the new-gen wave in Malayalam.

However, talking to a news portal, Rajeev Ravi trashed the speculations in this regard and made it clear he had not initiated any such move.  The letter in this regard was signed by 100 artists and technicians from the industry, including filmmakers Aashiq Abu and Anwar Rasheed. Anwar Rasheed had recently resigned from FEFKA.  Another incident is the open fight between Aashiq Abu and the FEFKA directors’ union.

Sources said making films without superstars will not be easy.
