KOCHI: The SFI leadership has decided to adopt Abhimanyu's family. According to V P Sanu, national president of SFI, the student organisation will conduct his sister's marriage and take care of the financial needs of his family.

"We will be providing all help to Abhimanyu's family. He wanted to bring the children living in Vattavada into the mainstream. And he considered education as a means to achieve this. So we will be planning programmes and activities that will help us achieve his dream," he said.

According to SFI activists, Abhimanyu's native place Vattavada is a very remote area. "The houses are dilapidated and the financial status of the people there is not sound," they said. So, SFI has decided to build a house for Abhimanyu's family.

"The fund for this will be collected from among the students not only in Maharajas but also those studying other colleges. besides this CPM has decided to conduct a fund collection drive," said Junaid, former district secretary of SFI.

The fund drive will be conducted from July 11 to 13 in the colleges.
