The City Police apprehended 46 Romeos as part of 'Operation Romeo'

The City Police on Saturday arrested 46 people from various parts of the city during ‘Operation Romeo’, launched to curb eve-teasing in the vicinity of educational institutions.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The City Police on Saturday arrested 46 people from various parts of the city during ‘Operation Romeo’, launched to curb eve-teasing in the vicinity of educational institutions.
Eight people were arrested from near Technopark for teasing women employees, while five were arrested by the Museum Police under whose limits fall some of the prestigious educational institutions. The other arrests were effected from various parts of the city.

17 absconding offenders arrested

As many as 17 offenders declared absconding by courts were nabbed by the city police during a combing operation on Saturday. A total of 140 people against whom arrest warrants were pending were also nabbed. As many as 119 people were arrested for creating public nuisance, while 251 were arrested on charges of drunken driving.  City police commissioner P Prakash led the operations.
