KOCHI: The Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday remanded Krishnan Nair, 47, an
NRI who allegedly threatened to kill Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, to judicial custody till July 9. He is a native of Eramellur, near Kothamangalam. Police have filed an application seeking his custody for conducting a further interrogation.
The police brought the Dubai-based Keralite to Kochi on Monday. Earlier, the Delhi police had apprehended him from the airport after he landed there from Abu Dhabi last week. Earlier this month, Nair, on a Facebook Live video from UAE, had threatened to kill the Chief Minister.
Following this, the Ernakulam Central Police registered a case against him under the IT Act, IPC Section 153 (A) (Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language and others and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and Section 120 (O) (Penalty for causing nuisance and violation of public order) of the Kerala Police Act.
