THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP national executive member and former state president P K Krishnadas has accused the CPM of trying to create communal clashes on the Sabarimala issue.“I have valid and clear information that when Rehana Fathima was climbing the hill shrine in police escort, there was a plan to pelt stones at some selected mosques in Kannur district and this was planned by the CPM leadership,” he told Express.

“If this had materialised, imagine what would have happened in the state. The CPM had planned this as an attack carried out by the RSS and the BJP to foment communal violence and would have spread the theory that RSS men had attacked mosques provoked by the attempt of a Muslim woman to enter Sabarimala,” he said.

“The BJP is at the forefront of the agitation as the party feels that the CPM-led Left Government is insulting and rebuking the believers and devotees of the Lord Ayyappa,” he said.Asked whether the BJP is gaining politically, he said: “The BJP as a political party will never take advantage of such an issue, which is close to our hearts as we are staunch believers of the Lord Ayyappa. We don’t want to play politics on the issue.”

“The BJP has not plunged into this issue taking politics into  consideration, but wanted to fight against the anti-Hindu attitude of the state government. The BJP will intervene if injustice is meted out to devotees. This is not communal issue, but a fight between believers and non-believers,” he said.
