RAYAGADA: The district Congress unit is flooded with applications for the Gunupur Assembly constituency. Among the aspirants are four members of the Gamang family.

Sitting MLA Hema Gamang has virtually vacated the constituency in favour of her brother Trinath Gamang and three others from the family - Sisir Gamang (son of Giridhari Gamang), former ZP Chairman Bijay Gamang and Purusottam Gamang (nephew of Giridhar Gamang) are vying for the seat. Another aspirant is Aysmati Sabaro, wife of a youth leader Ismail Sabaro.

For the Rayagada constituency, sitting MLA and CLP leader Ulaka Ramachandra is said to have sent his application to the PCC. It is learnt that his elder son Simhanchal Ulaka is also in the race for the ticket. Other candidates include MLA Purna Chandra Majhi, who won the by-election from Laxmipur and Makarandi Muduli from Kasipur block.

For Bissam-Cuttack, besides sitting MLA Dambarudhar Ulaka, former ZP chairman Bijay Gamang and A. Sakuntala are the aspirants for the party ticket.
